McGee Creek Natural Scenic Recreation Area
5798 S McGee Creek Lake Rd, Atoka, Oklahoma
Admin: Misty Kennedy
Located west of Antlers, OK and east of Atoka, Ok, McGee Creek Natural Scenic Recreation Area is stunning and wild. Campers can expect to mostly boondock at the 'ranger house', though a clean, well maintained shower house and bathroom is offered. There is one water hydrant available for watering horses. You will be expected to check in and check out as the ranger will check the box each evening to make sure everyone returned from their ride/hike. Footing is rocky and can be nerve wracking for the less stoic riders, especially if you're on a careless, klutzy horse, as I was the first time I rode it.
